The ‘Two Cherubs’ is a famous extract taken from the Sistine Madonna, also called the Madonna di San Sisto. an oil painting by the Italian artist Raphael Sanzio. The altarpiece was commissioned in 1512 by Pope Julius II for the church of San Sisto, Piacenza. The canvas was one of the last Madonnas painted by the artist. Giorgio Vasari called it “a truly rare and extraordinary work”
